A vision of the Grimm Reaper appears to Jonah Stevens in a dream.

Panel 01
With the ethereal subtlety that comes with transitioning from deep sleep into a dream the mind’s eye of Jonah Stevens envisioned the robed figure of a man (The Grimm Reaper) from behind standing upon the edge of a bluff in the distance overlooking an ocean; watching the sun make its descent towards the horizon.
INTRODUCE THE GRIMM REAPER
The Grimm Reaper is the personified spirit of death. The Reaper is said to appear to the dying as an animated skeleton adorned in a long black robe with hood (often tattered and torn) and carrying a long handled scythe used to cut the mortal cord of the living from life before escorting their spirit (soul) into the afterlife.
Panel 02
The Reaper stands perfectly still with long black robe flapping in the wind as Jonah’s consciousness approaches it carried not on the wind, but against it as if by some ether as the sun touches down on the horizon
CAPTION
Jonah Stevens is aware that he is dreaming. Yet still he is filled with a feeling of foreboding.
Panel 03
And as the sun sinks into the watery depths day begins to give way to night. And still the figure does not move.
CAPTION
For he senses this vision is something more than a dream
Panel 04
And as Jonah comes close, as if sensing his presence for the first time, the figure begins slowly to turn its head towards him.
CAPTION
It is an omen of things to come.
Panel 05
Then quickly the Reaper spins its head around to face Jonah with its frightening visage; a fleshless skull, save for the eyes that bulge lidless in their sockets, with it’s toothy mouth agape in a fleshless smile, issuing a throat-less hiss.

Jonah Stevens awakens to discover that his mother, Martha Stevens, is in the middle of a cardiac arrest. He calls to the doctor’s and nurse for help.

Panel 01
Jonah awakens to the sound of a heart monitor that has flat-lined. The alarm wails it’s warning of peril, that a heart has stopped pumping, in a long sharp biting monotone.
INT. MARTHA STEVENS HOSPITAL ROOM
INTRODUCE JONAH STEVENS
Jonah Stevens is a male roughly 35 years of age. He is of average height and weight. He keeps his brown hair cut short and is clean-shaven. He is wearing a jacket, slacks and dress shoes of the working class.
SFX:
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE…
JONAH
Oh, god! Mum?
Panel 02
Martha Stevens is lying on a hospital gurney in the midst of agony and a convulsive fit brought on by a heart attack.
INTRODUCE MARTHA STEVENS
Martha Stevens is a woman of average height and weight of some 65-years of age. She is the mother of Jonah Stevens and she is ill with heart disease.
JONAH
Doctor! Nurse! Help! My mum’s having a heart attack! Please, come quick!
Panel 03
Nurse Melidas comes rushing into the room followed close behind by Doctor Grimmel and intern Robert Pendleton.
INTRODUCE NURSE JAZ MELIDAS
Nurse Jaz Melidas is an attending nurse. She is Latina, is about 24 years of age, and stands about 5’6” tall. She has a fit body and wears her straight brunette hair shoulder length.
INTRODUCE DOCTOR ROBERT GRIMMEL
Doctor Robert Grimmel is the attending doctor. He is Caucasian, is about 56 years of age, and stands about 5’8” tall.
INTRODUCE INTERN BARRY PENDLETON
Intern Barry Pendleton is about 28 years of age; he stands about 6’2” tall and is a mulatto with caramel color skin.
JONAH
Oh, thank god you’re here. Please, help my mum.
NURSE MELIDAS
Of course, Mr. Stevens, we’ll do everything that we can for your mother. Now please make way for the doctors.
Panel 04
Doctor Pendleton and Doctor Grimmel stand at Martha Stevens bedside preparing her for treatment.
DR. GRIMMEL
Prepare the defibrillator.
Panel 05
Doctor Grimmel prepares to resuscitate Martha Stevens with the defibrillator.
